The office building of the renowned gospel musician Evang. Dare Melody is set for demolition by Lagos State Government as a result of the vibration effect of the collapsed 2 story building next to it, event which happened yesterday, Tuesday 27th of May 2025. Hence, the building is tagged distressed structure and marked for demolition today Wednesday 28th of May 2025.
The accident claimed the lives of 3 people while some were injured and hospitalized.
The building has been sealed by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), and the injuction to initiate the demolition has been served and well communicated with the occupants of the building
The demolition process is set to start immediately if the building does not meet up the statutory requirements of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) after a series of stability tests to confirm safety standards.
Some engineering practitioners have started querying the existence of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) in respect to frequent accidents as a result of the usage of substandard equipment for building.
This situation is presently under the supervision of Lagos State Government Building Control Agency.
